Moskovsky Bar will host a special guest shift on Wednesday, October 22. One of Russia’s leading gin experts, international-class master distiller, and seasoned bartender Vladimir Kolganov will not only delight guests with his intriguing event “Evolution of Martini,” but will also introduce the Moscow audience to his new creation — Brass Monkey, the first Russian premium gin.
The time-travel begins in 1898 with the Marguerite — a not-too-dry mix of gin and vermouth that can rightfully be called the great-grandmother of the modern martini. A touch of orange bitters gives this classic its distinctive character.
The next stop, the Marguerite of 1904, keeps its name but evolves in flavor — drier, crisper, and fresher, with a cocktail cherry replacing the traditional olive garnish.
The boldest drink of the evening is the Duke’s Martini (1985), also known as the “clean” or “diamond” martini — minimalism in its purest form: an ice-cold glass, ice-cold gin, and just a drop of ice-cold vermouth. More than a cocktail, it’s a true test for connoisseurs of this iconic drink.
The Duke’s Martini is also the best way to experience the flavor of Brass Monkey, where notes of kaffir lime, grapefruit, and lemon dominate the gin’s bright formula.
For those not ready for such deep alcohol exploration, two lighter aperitif options will also be available — the Gimlet and the Red Snapper, both beautifully showcasing Brass Monkey’s character.
